Honduras Receives First Commercial LNG Cargo

Honduras received its first commercial LNG cargo on 7 August, with LNG sourced from the US Sabine Pass facility delivered to the new 0.5 mtpa Puerto Cortés LNG terminal. The LNG will supply the 240 MW Brassavola gas-fired power plant,  replacing its regular consumption of diesel, while full terminal operations are expected to begin in October 2026. LNG supply is backed by a 15-year agreement with Centrica Energy for around six cargoes per year. The project establishes Honduras’ first integrated LNG import, storage, regasification and power generation supply chain.
